Book Ark Dedication

As our school year came to a close, the last detail taken care of after our Prayer Service, was the dedication of the Book Ark. The Book Ark project started in March with a plain wooden unit, and became a beautiful work of art that will hold books for people to enjoy. During their Art Classes with Mrs. Rhea, the sixth and seventh graders offered their creative ideas and designs of what should be drawn on the Book Ark. Under Mrs. Rhea's guidance, eighth grade artists Jordan, Jennifer, and Gabriella offered their talents drawing the designs, and along with fourth grade artists Veronica and Hayley, the Book Ark was painted and became the beautiful work of art we see today.

The Book Ark was dedicated by Sr. Alicia as it stood in the gym. The quote “Reading is dreaming with eyes open” by Anissa Trisdianty was shared with the students by Sister Alicia. Afterwards, everyone extended their hand as the Blessing was read. At that point, one student from each grade placed a book inside the Ark for someone to enjoy once it is positioned at its home on 49th Street and Westfield Avenue this summer.

We would like to thank Mr. Tom Martin from Camden County Pop Up Library Book Ark, Ms. Elena Piperno, the Director of the Domenica Foundation, and Mr. Pepe Piperno for offering our students the opportunity and freedom to design and paint the Book Ark and the offer of free books to our community. May you always have God’s Blessings
