What a Night!

What an evening at the Catholic Schools Partnership Learning Center Campus on April 3rd. Fifteen finalists from Holy Name, Sacred Heart, Saint Cecilia, and Saint Joseph Pro-Cathedral Schools gathered in Saint Anthony of Padua’s Community Hall to present their science fair exhibits. Saint Cecilia was represented by eighth grader - Nahmir, seventh grader - Nick and sixth grader - Madeline. Projects included: Lenz’s Law, Surface Tension: A Study in Liquid Behaviors, Tooth Decay Experiment, Big and Small Chemical Reactions, I’m Not Singing in the Acid Rain, Moldy Disaster, and Comparing Different Cells. Every student in the competition did an excellent verbal demonstration of their project, answered questions from judges and visitors, and anxiously awaited who would place first, second, and third as Catholic Partnership Schools Science Fair winners. It was clearly evident that all participants on this night, as well as all the middle school students from each school, worked diligently on their projects and all should be proud of their accomplishments on the school level and those here tonight.

Parents, principals, teachers, and classmates came out to support their schools’ candidates who earned their way to the finals by placing in the top three at their schools.

While the judges discussed their findings, families were able to interact with the STEM family project. After much deliberation, the time finally arrived to announce the winners. Our own seventh grader Nick V paced first in the competition with Lenz’s Law Proved. The second place winner Xzavier and the third place winner Samaya are students of Holy Name.

Congratulations to the winners and to all who participated. Everyone is a winner for the amazing exhibits that looked fantastic.

A huge thank you, to our judges who took time out of their busy schedules to do the difficult task of judging this competition. It wasn’t an easy task.
